Dear JCMS Parents and Guardians,

How amazing that the end of the school year is right around the corner. It seems as if it were only yesterday that I was standing at the front door of school welcoming the 7th and 8th graders to their new home. This year has been an amazing transformation of Lumen Christi with all of them here. Your children certainly bring much added energy into the building. We affectionately call them the “little kids!”

Thank you for your support in making this year’s Spring Raffle a great success. We raised a record $72,000. Many of the middle school students were recipients of the incentive prizes given out on assembly days, which always brought a sigh of disbelief from the high school—way to go middle school!

I have had the opportunity to participate with the students in their weekly celebration of the Eucharist. It is very obvious to me that the formation they received in elementary school made a great impact on their spiritual life. As we approach the summer months, it is our hope that you will continue to give them many opportunities to receive the Sacraments. We can assist you with helping your child develop a mature relationship with Jesus Christ; however, you are their first and most important catechists. Please know that you have my continued prayers in your efforts.

Finally, I applaud you on your decision to continue a Catholic Education for your children. You are our best ambassadors in the community. Word of mouth is the best marketing tool around. If you have anyone interested in learning more about Lumen Christi Catholic School, please have them call the office or we would be more than happy to send them information.

Keegan Smith placed third in the Seventh Grade category of the annual Jackson District Library Young Poets contest. He was awarded a certificate and an autographed copy of "Don't Do That" a book of poetry by renowned poet and songwriter Barry Louis Polisar.
