The Paths We Take….
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
~Proverbs 3:5-6
Over the past month or so, there has been much discussion in my office, on the topic of what path one’s life might take. Our Seniors are getting set to graduate, our 8th Graders are about to enter high school, and many incoming 7th Graders will enter our building for the first time. It is normal for any one of these changes to bring anxiety about what’s in store on the “path” ahead of them. I have had many discussions with these students about keeping on the path God has for them. Though my discussions may be different for an “almost graduating” Senior, than it would be for an “8th going into 9th” Grader, the common thread is God. Because we have the unique opportunity at our school to come together as children of God, we all share a portion of the same path. When explained in this way, it can bring a sense of comfort, knowing that in the midst of an ever-changing world, our unity in Christ remains.
I would encourage parents to have open dialogue with your students about keeping with the “path” God has for them. Over the summer, it can become difficult to stay on track. We get out of our routine, and sometimes our path can become a bit twisted. Hopefully, as our students attend Mass and celebrate good times with family and friends, the thought of the “path” ahead of them will become less scary, and more an exciting opportunity to see what God has in store for them!
God Bless & have a great summer!
